broadstone Football centre
Overview:
Step into Sport run a Football Centre on a Monday evening at Corfe Hills School for children aged between 6-16. All our groups train on a Monday evening.
U7-U10s- 5-6.30pm. Outdoor.
U11-14- 6.30-8pm. Outdoor.
The centre is for all players to challenge themselves. Our Performance Centre players will play in the Testway League every Saturday competing against some top teams. Our Development Centre players will compete in regular friendlies against like-minded coaching set-ups.
This centre is for players who show potential and are keen to push themselves to the next level. The centre looks to play other like-minded set ups to test the players against top opposition.
The centre acts as a steppingstone, with a clear pathway for elite players. All sessions at the centre are led by Patrick Brown.
What the future holds
In recent time ps Step into Sport have upped their offering to give players opportunities to reach their full potential. With our players playing in regular games programmes as well as focused learning points in training, the players will really start to push on.
In October 2024 Step into Sport took 5 teams to play in the Barcelona Cup. In October 2025 we are taking 8 teams and in October 2026 we plan to take 10 teams.
Providing opportunities for this many players is something we pride ourselves on and it’ll be a memory they will never forget.
Training Sessions:
All our sessions are led by Head coach Patrick (UEFA B licensed) and his assistant Daniel Walker (UEFA B qualified). All our training sessions run to a syllabus with weekly planned sessions. Each half term we run to a topic.
Block 1- Fundamental ABC’s and basic skills.
Block 2- Playing out from the back.
Block 3- Keeping possession.
Block 4- Defending as an individual and unit.
Block 5- Creating scoring opportunities.
Block 6- Attacking in transition.
We will always look to adapt our sessions to fit the players needs whether that’s to challenge them more or simplify the session if they are finding it challenging.
During the sessions we will look to coach the coach the groups as well as working 1-1 with players if we feel they would benefit from it.
Pathway
Step into Sport Football centre runs from U6-U16s, Once they finish U16s football we will work with the players to find them a club that will best support them. We will work with clubs who have a pathway which includes U18s and reserve teams before the senior team.
the link
It doesn’t matter whether you attend our Broadstone or Dorchester Centre, you will still be involved in our games programme.
Each week we focus on the same coaching points at both centres so when our players come together they are working on the same topics.
Coaching team
Step into Sport prides itself on all its coaches having necessary qualifications and experience for the job they are undertaking. Lead coach Patrick is a UEFA B qualified coach and his assistant, Daniel Walker, is currently undertaking his UEFA B. All our other coaches complete their ‘Introduction to coaching’ qualification and have in date DBS certificates. All staff are regularly kept up to date with First Aid and Safeguarding training. Our current coaching team of 17 coaches work with around 1200 children a week, ranging from 4-15 years old.
Philosophy
At Step into Sport our philosophy is very simple. We believe players are playing to their full potential when they are enjoying their football and playing with confidence. As coaches we do our best to drive this by offering players plenty of positive feedback. If we ever want to give any individual constructive feedback, we will speak to a player separately. We run to a syllabus so players can see a pathway to their development. We stick to one or two coaching points in each session, so players aren’t bogged down with lots of information. A lot of our sessions are game based as we believe this will help improve them at a quicker speed.
COST
The cost for our Development players is £32 a month. This includes training once a week for an hour and a half plus one game a month.
Our Performance Centre players will pay £45 a month which includes training and a game once a week.
