Poole Town Football centre

Overview:

Step into Sport are delighted to be a partner in the new Poole Town Football Partnership, cementing its already close ties with Poole Town FC’s Kids Initiative and Poole Town FC Wessex, the affiliated youth club of the main club and the FTY Lab. Many of you will be aware of us as we have been supplying coaches to deliver Kids Initiative sessions over the past couple of years. The object of the Partnership is to expand the football opportunities available to local children of all levels and abilities, including those facing financial, emotional or physical hardship. Beginning at the start of the new term in September 2024, Step into Sport will take over the running of the Saturday morning Minikicker sessions, previously run by the Kids Initiative. The time and venue will remain the same, 10-11am at Haymoor Junior school, Canford Heath and suitable for children in Reception to Year 2 (as of September ‘24).

Pathway

The focus of these sessions in providing the children with their first steps into football. Our goal is to build teams and prepare the players to start their Grassroots Football journey with Poole Town Wessex.

Training Sessions:

All our sessions are led by head coach Patrick Brown (UEFA B). all our training sessions run to a syllabus with weekly planned sessions. Each Half term we run to a topic.

Block 1 – Fundamental ABC’s and basic skills.

Block 2 – Passing and moving.

Block 3 – Working as a team.

Block 4 – Defending.

Block 5 – Dribbling and 1v1s.

Block 6 – Conditioned match play.

We will always look to adapt our sessions to fit the players needs whether that’s to challenge them more or simplify the session if they are finding it challenging. During the sessions we will look to coach the groups as well as working 1-1 with players if we feel they would benefit from it. With the focus now more on football development, the sessions will no longer be free as they were under the KI. However, with the spirit of the KI in mind, the charge we propose to make will be less than equivalent programmes offered elsewhere.

Coaching team

SIS prides itself of deliving the best sessions possible. All training sessions are led by head coach Patrick. Games are then run by our matchday coaches. All coaches are DBS checked with relavent First Aid, coaching and safeguarding qualifications.

Philosophy

At Step into Sport our philosophy is very simple. We believe players are playing to their full potential when they are enjoying their football and playing with confidence. As coaches we do our best to drive this by offering players plenty of positive feedback. If we ever want to give any individual constructive feedback, we will speak to a player separately. We run to a syllabus so players can see a pathway to their development. We stick to one or two coaching points in each session, so players aren’t bogged down with lots of information. A lot of our sessions are game based as we believe this will help improve them at a quicker speed.

communication

SIS will use a Whatsapp group chat to communicate with parents for any last minute info.

With regards to training attendance, we use an app called “Teamer”. This is a free app that you can download. We add all training sessions to the app and then when we send the notification out for the upcoming training, you can accept or decline.

COST

CostThe cost for the training sessions is £15 a month. This is a 12-month course. Once you have committed to attending, Patrick will send you a link to set up your payment subscription. Once this is set up, payment will automatically be taken each month. If you no longer wish to attend it is your responsibility to cancel the subscription.

DATes

DatesTraining will run from the 6th of September 2024 until the 18th of July 2025. Throughout the year Step into Sport run Half term camps at Oakdale Junior School and Longfleet Primary School. Children will get 2 days free on these camps.
